The first step in setting up your shipping preferences will be to set up your flat rate shipping. This will be what your customers are charged, when they place an order. There will be more customization available, so this is just a starting point.
Both of these next two steps are optional. We have the ability to add a variable shipping cost, with a max shipping cost as well. The variable shipping will add a specific amount per additional product, to the shipping charge. The max shipping cost will put a cap on the variables adding up. (Ex. $7 for one item, or $10 for two or more, with a max cost, paid by the customer of $10)
Our next important step that is also optional, is the ability to offer free shipping when a customer spends over a certain amount of money in one single transaction. This specific example is showing if a customer spends over $75 they will receive free shipping. If you do not want to offer this, simply input the number 0, and it will void this option.
Free 24 hour shipping, but don't fret! It's not what it sounds like! When a customer places an order, and pays for shipping, then all orders placed in the following 24 hours will receive free shipping, if this is enabled. All of their orders will ship out in one package, and it'll encourage them to continue shopping. It's a win-win situation!
Will you be offering local pick up, for your customers to avoid shipping charges? If so, make sure to enable this!
We highly recommend enabling both of these next options, as it will save time and money when pulling, packing, and shipping your products. These features, when enabled, will combine all of the orders that haven't currently been shipped/picked up into one package. This is also suggested when utilizing 24 Hour Free Shipping.
If you need to charge a few dollars more for a product here and there, you will want to enable the custom shipping price/product. This will enable a box on the first page of adding a product. If you will not be charging anything different than your regular shipping, you will want to leave this spot blank. This is most often used for heavier items such as coats or shoes.
You will also have the feature to turn on One Hour Free Shipping. This is optional, and it will allow your customers to receive free shipping if they pay their cart total within the first hour of adding it into their cart. This encourages them to pay while their impulse is still high.
Last but not least, if you will be using CommentSold shipping (which is amazing!), then you will want to enable this next button. If you will be using a shipping platform with an API token, you will want to keep this disabled.
Please note, there are a couple of buttons regarding international shipping. These are only applicable if you will fulfill your orders within your Shopify, or if you choose to use an external avenue to ship those. CommentSold does not currently create customs forms, which are needed for these scenarios.
